Professor Tine De Moor, Erasmus University Rotterdam (main applicant): Professor De Moor holds a PhD in History from Ghent University (2003) and a postgraduate in Environmental Sciences at the University of Antwerp (1999). In 2012, she was appointed Professor of Institutions for Collective Action in Historical Perspective at Utrecht University, followed by an appointment as Professor of Social Enterprises & Institutions for Collective Action at Erasmus University in 2020. De Moor was an early adopter of open science practices. In 2007, De Moor was the co-founder of the first international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal based in the Netherlands. She set up several large citizen-science projects and studied the mechanisms behind them. Creating better cooperation between citizens and scientists is core to the CK project initiated by De Moor.

Jeroen Melein, Erasmus University Rotterdam (co-applicant): Jeroen Melein, MSc MBA, is the director of RSM Digitalisation and Information Services with over 25 years in strategic digital transformation and operational management. Jeroen’s integrative leadership style, which bridges strategic vision and practical implementation, ensures cohesive team collaboration and stakeholder alignment. His expertise in data-driven decision-making and IT infrastructure enhances the effectiveness of large-scale research initiatives. Jeroen spearheads the team of capable developers that will build the CROWN infrastructure.

Margaret Gold, Leiden University (co-applicant): Margaret Gold, MBA, is the Coordinator of the Citizen Science Lab at Leiden University - a project incubator for collaborative citizen science initiatives and a research hub for public participation in scientific research across a wide range of domains. Alongside her own research focus on creative collaboration and the policy impacts of Citizen Observatories, Margaret brings 10+ year’s experience in the technology industry and contributions to meta-data standards and platform development for citizen science to the project, ensuring that FAIR and CARE principles are applied, and that CROWN is interoperable with the (inter)national open science and citizen science ecosystem.

Dr. Lukas Held, Erasmus University Rotterdam (collaboration partner): Dr. Lukas Held hold a PhD from Utrecht University in Innovation Management. As the project coordinator of CK he engages with the various stakeholders of CK daily in order to facilitate open and citizen science in the field of CCs. He is responsible for the stakeholder management of the project to align the developed infrastructure with the requirements of the various user groups.

Ymke van den Berg, SURF (collaboration partners): Ymke van den Berg serves as program manager of the innovation zone Making the most of digital infrastructures where amongst other things she is inventorying citizen science infrastructure and will serve as an advisor to this project and our contact point within SURF to guarantee that the project makes optimal use of existing SURF resources.
