CollectieveKracht is a nationwide, cross-sector knowledge exchange platform designed to strengthen citizen collectives across fields like energy, housing, care, and food. It brings together diverse citizen initiatives and supports their resilience by facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration.
CollectieveKracht actively involves citizens not just in data collection but throughout the scientific process: problem framing, research design, interpretation, and solution development. Extreme citizen science projects (such as CollectieveKracht) harness the knowledge, resources, and commitment of large and diverse groups of people to address complex scientific and societal challenges. They do this not only by involving citizens in data collection but also in other key stages of the scientific process. By collaborating with a broad audience, these platforms can contribute to real-world solutions while also generating valuable scientific insights. Throughout this process, we ensure that all participants have a clear role, helping to manage expectations and foster mutual collaboration.
In this video*, we explain how extreme citizen science differs from traditional science and how we ensure that the learning process continuously helps citizen collectives grow into resilient organizations. * Can’t see the video? Please accept cookies first.
CollectieveKracht is there, primarily, for representatives of citizen collectives. In addition, the various partner labs offer a place for scientists, (local) governments, network organisations and financial institutions to exchange knowledge and information. By registering their citizen collective, more data will be available in order to provide relevant tools and information to these citizen collectives and stakeholders. Open the summary.
As part of the registration protests, the citizen collective fills in a survey that maps the inner workings of their collective, which also functions as a moment of reflection. We often call it the 'self-scan'.
✓ Engage with other citizen collectives, both online and at our events. ✓ Respond to existing discussions. ✓ Submit research questions. ✓ Manage a page for their citizens' collective. ✓ Freely browse the hundreds of items in the knowledge base. ✓ Collaborate with scientists on tools that can help their collective move forward. ✓ Gain insight into the functioning of their collective. ✓ Be the first to know about new research, events and other news especially for citizen collectives
