International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC)
The International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) is a global organization dedicated to the study and sustainable management of shared resources, known as commons. These resources include land, water, fisheries, and knowledge. IASC is devoted to bringing together multi-disciplinary researchers, practitioners and policymakers for the purpose of improving governance and management, advancing understanding, and creating sustainable solutions for commons, common-pool resources, or any other form of shared resource. The IASC aims to encourage exchange of knowledge among diverse disciplines, areas, and resource types, foster mutual exchange of scholarship and practical experience and promote appropriate institutional design. You can view their Declaration of Support here.
The IASC aims to achieve these goals by deploying a range of activities, such as:
- organizing and endorsing biennial as well as thematic or regional conferences
- organizing and endorsing local workshops and activities
- publishing the International Journal of the Commons and the Commons Digest
- creating and fostering networking opportunities
- creating databases on commons research
IASC will collaborate with the ECCO consortium in organizing an international IASC conference during the duration of the project.
Journal Sociale Vraagstukken (SV)
Tijdschrift Sociale Vraagstukken is a Dutch magazine focused on social issues and public policy. It covers topics such as welfare, inequality, education, healthcare, and social justice, offering insights and analyses from experts, researchers, and policymakers. The magazine serves as a platform for discussing pressing social challenges in the Netherlands. It allows scholars and professionals to publish and debate social issues based on data and empiricism. They aim to connect research and practice. As a platform they focus on the 'social professional' (from welfare worker to police officer), imported volunteer, experience expert, policy maker or scientist. Thit is quite a broad target group and thus requires balancing skills: between depth and accessibility. Therefore they avoid jargon and ask for clear language. You can view their Declaration of Support here.
Regarding the ECCO project, Sociale Vraagstukken is particularly interested in the new insights gained on the collaboration between citizen collectives and governments, as these provide material for debate. SV envisions publishing two to four articles per year that will appear on socialevraagstukken.nl. These articles will focus on sharing knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned from these partnerships, aiming to spark discussions on the topic.
