Extreme citizen science projects (such as CollectivePower) leverage the knowledge, resources, and commitment of large and diverse groups of people to address complex scientific and societal challenges. They do this not only by involving citizens in data collection but also in other key steps in the scientific process. By collaborating with a broad audience, these platforms can not only contribute to solutions for real-world problems but also generate valuable scientific insights. Throughout this process, we ensure that everyone involved has a clear role. This allows us to manage expectations and foster mutual collaboration.
In this video, we explain how extreme citizen science differs from traditional science and how we ensure that the learning process continuously helps citizen collectives develop into resilient organizations.
