What is the Government Lab?
Citizen collectives identify numerous challenges in their relationships with government bodies. Many complaints relate to the need for recognition and the cumbersome nature of consultations through various channels. The government, in turn, struggles to navigate the unique governance structure and decision-making processes of citizen collectives. The Government Lab aims to address these frictions and challenges together and find practical solutions.
Governments and citizen collectives need each other in various ways and can be of great value to one another. Citizen collectives encourage citizens to take matters into their own hands and contribute to social cohesion in neighborhoods, districts, and villages. They are often the driving force behind practical solutions to social issues such as climate, healthcare, energy, and food. Governments create conditions and facilities through legislation, regulations, subsidy programs, and policy.
The Government Lab helps both citizen collectives and government bodies strengthen and deepen their interaction. This takes practical form by mutually sharing questions and needs, structuring available knowledge, and showcasing both successful and unsuccessful examples. Taking up advocacy together is part of this.
